Linuxhoneywellbasic writes 'This Saturday the 12th will be Robert Carlile's TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE, which exhumes various Nix programs still useful in today's Linux context (and in virtualized environments if all else fails). Then down the road, we'll skip a session due to the HAL-PC General Meeting, THEN Aaron the Previous President will be along (looks like second Sat. of May) to do the Linux Audio show (latest edition).

  SETXLUG Reincarnated
Posted by jhuebel on Jan 02, 2008(1930 Reads)
Houston Linux Users Groupjhuebel writes 'I just wanted to send out a quick notice to HLUG members (and SETX area visitors) that the SouthEast Texas Linux User's Group website has been reregistered and is in development now. For a few years, I became too busy with work and family life to participate in SETXLUG, so it fell by the wayside. With some recent changes in my professional life, I'm happy to say that I'm going to devote more time to my interests in Linux and OSS.

I'm basing the website on a PHP-based MVC framework many of you may be familiar with called symfony. If you're interested in assisting with development, please send me an email at jhuebel(at)gmail(dot)com.

At this time, there are no plans for brick-and-mortar meetings. I'm hoping to gauge interest in SETXLUG through the website, build a web-based community, then revisit the possibility of meetings sometime in late-summer 2008. Since the website is currently in development, if you are interested in LUG meetings in the SETX area, please send me an email at jhuebel(at)gmail(dot)com.

I hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday! Happy New Year!
